Wilsons Promontory - Tidal River, Mount Bishop to Lilly Pilly Circuit, back to Tidal River via Tidal River Overlook Track and Pillar Point.

This route offered a bit of everything: coastal views and forested paths. The track is moderately challenging, making it suitable for most fitness levels in our group.

Wilsons Promontory, affectionately known as "The Prom," is a true gem, offering a perfect blend of pristine beaches, lush forests, and breathtaking views. This trip was organized by Patsy as a training walk with an invitation to all club members, and it promised to be a day of adventure, scenic beauty, and camaraderie.

Our day began early as we set off from the"Tidal River campground". The weather was perfect for walking—cool with a gentle breeze, and the sky was a brilliant blue. The initial section of the trail wound through coastal scrub and provided stunning views of Tidal River.

As we continued, the track led us through a dense eucalypt forest. The shade provided a welcome respite from the sun, and the forest was alive with the sounds of birds and the occasional rustling of leaves. We took our time, enjoying the tranquility and the fresh scent of the eucalyptus trees. Morning tea was on Mt Bishop - the views spectacular. The views were stunning, with the clear blue water stretching out to the horizon, dotted with small islands.

After our break, we continued along the track, which gently took us around back to the Lilly Pilly carpark, before we ascended to the rocks on the Tidal Overlook Track for lunch. After lunch it was a leisurely amble to Pillar Point whilst enjoying views over to Squeaky Beach. We were fortunate to spot a couple of Wallabies. After Pillar Point it was a quick walk back to the Tidal River campground.  We were all looking forward to a coffee......feeling invigorated and connected with nature. The day was filled with laughter, stunning scenery, and a sense of accomplishment.

Wilsons Promontory truly offers a unique and unforgettable experience, and it's easy to see why it's such a beloved destination.
