Who doesn't love to get out and walk on a chilly Winter's morning when the fog is heavy in the air and the sun is yet to show its face? And especially when the 2 teams walking are raising money for a good cause - to help fund cancer research and treatment.

This was what the group of 14 who met at the Koonwarra section of the rail trail on Thursday morning were doing.

They divided into 2 teams, one led by Ian Mayer and the other by Graham Clements.

Ian's team walked towards Meeniyan for 2.5km then turned back to cross over at Koonwarra with Graham's team who had walked 2.8km towards Leongatha and back. Ian's team then walked in the Leongatha direction before turning back to Koonwarra while Graham's team walked in the Meeniyan direction before turning back.

It was NOT supposed to be a competition however Ian's team couldn't help but be competitive and made sure they finished first.

This meant they made a start on the beautiful morning tea at the Ethical Food Store before Graham's team had quite reached the finish line. It didn't matter though as there was plenty of morning tea for everyone.

Thank you Ian for shouting us all morning tea and for organising the whole event.

All up we raised $520.00 for the Dry July Cancer fund and had a most enjoyable time.

Particpants: Ian Mayer, Sue Mayer, Pauline Xuereb, Heather Cruickshank, Les Cruickshank, Mary-anne Taylor, Robyn Scott, Graham Clements, Marg Waldron, Judy Speedy, Elizabeth Pearce, Anne Moorehouse, Patrina Roberts, Gayle McHarg.
