Les was our trusty leader and even had a spare pair of poles, which I greatly appreciated.
We were led to the Pioneer Reserve, up the hill, past the abandoned Girl Guide Camp site, enjoyed the views over the hills to the coast. We meandered through the bush, down into a peaceful valley alongside the Foster Creek, with towering Mountain Ash and verdant greenery. Up and down we went, past the old quarry, through some farms, making sure many gates were left shut, even met farmer Susan, mowing her lawns, who filled our packs with lemons!
Arriving at Heather and Les’s home where we enjoyed a delicious morning tea and forgot we still had to keep walking! So it was a shortcut back to the cars, for some avoiding another hill but not the snakes, two were sighted on the track leading past the creek. Thank you Heather and Les, for sharing your piece of paradise with us all!
