Our group of 10 intrepid cyclists did indeed set sail from Cowes to Stony Point on a Sunday ..... because it's free for the elderly!
It would have been a voyage of rum-swilling, bawdy shanty- singing swash-bucklers but Kerry said "no" and the bar was closed anyway.
We disembarked (this is a seafaring term) at Stony Point and set off to Hastings, about an hour away. After circumnavigating (another seafaring term) the local park we set off to find our pre-booked lunch spot. Unfortunately we arrived about 11.20 and they were not prepared to take lunch orders for another half hour. So we had quite a leisurely lunch break before returning to Stony Point. I am not allowed to mention that our leader left her phone and glasses at the cafe and had to ride an extra 6 km, at high speed, to retrieve them. So I won't.
We arrived back at Stony Point to find our ferry ready and waiting. We embarked (ditto seafaring term) and set sail (this is silly - there were no sails) for Cowes.
A pleasant end to a day of remarkably good weather. Many thanks to Kerry for organising the trip.
