Day One - Cycling along Old Paynesville Road to Paynesville and around Raymond Island.

We followed the Mitchell River onto a track, passing kangaroos on a beach; they took no notice of us. On the outskirts of Paynesville we reached a canal, with million dollar houses and million dollar boats to match. Up the hill and into Paynesville. Time for a coffee, then a very short trip on a ferry onto Raymond Island. We rode the rough and sandy tracks of the whole island. After lunch in Paynesville we met at two o’clock for our return ride.

Day Two - Cycling to Bruthen along the rail trail.

Starting at nine o’clock from Howitt Park we found the start of the rail trail and rode on a bitumen track sixteen kilometres to Nicholson. This portion of the ride was fairly flat. Coffee at Nicholson, where some of the party left to ride back to Bairnsdale. Five riders continued on to Bruthen. The track was gravel and undulating. The track was well signposted, however, some of the distances didn’t appear correct. Beautiful views along the way, lots of long grass at the side of the track. Arrived to a very busy Bruthen in time for a lunch in the park. We left at one o’clock and arrived back just after three..

Thankyou to Kerry for organising the trip and to all the cyclists for their great company.
