This walk is an annual event combining local walking clubs to unite in a beautiful piece of local bushland, walking alongside the Tyers River, below Moondarra reservoir, including Wirilda Park and Tyers Park.
Keeping the “numbers “ happy, we divided into two groups, doing the same walk approx.. 15 ks. In two different directions, swapping car keys along the way, a 3rd fast group did a longer 24ks, another walk was 10 ks, Barb, Ken & John chose this option.
Peter Maffei was our trusty leader and he has a huge knowledge of the park and its history of water supply to Traralgon and the power stations in the past. Incredible old water pipes made from wire and wooden slats are still visible.
Pat showed us greenhood and helmet orchids.
Peter and Jim, (not sure who else) had been thru days before, groomed the track and put a rope across the river to assist us, a lot of work very much appreciated.
A truly fantastic day was had by us all. Thankyou to Strzlecki club for organising the day.
