Our only company on the river for the whole day was the tourist boat Rebeena, which is very unusual. The Thompson river was very full from recent rain so we were able to look at tops of green banks, many trees had fallen into the river providing minor obstacles. Avenel found a curious fox, and “farmer Joe” warned us as we ate lunch on an ideal grassy bank in the sunshine, about his his cheeky bull… “don’t trust him” - don’t think we will stop there. Yolanda and Sue kept us entertained all day as they laughed and giggled all the way, with some entertaining paddle antics.
We returned to our cars after a completely fantastic day on the water. Thanks heaps to Avenel for organising - definitely worth the drive.
