Gunbower Island Paddle

If you missed out on the "idyllic paddling event of the year" in 2022,  now is your chance to join us for a paddle in the "Kakadu of the South" -  the Gunbower Creek  between Cohuna and Koondrook.  We will be camping in State Forrest near Sales Lagoon with day paddles based from that location.  BYO food, water and accommodation.  Opportunity for off road cycling.  There are no toilets at this site but amenities are available on the island at the Twin Bridges Recreational Site on Koondrook Track.  Follow this link for more information.       Gunbower-Island-Canoe-Trail_Brochure.pdf

WHEN:  Friday 19^th - Monday 21st April (arrive Thursday or Friday am)

WHERE:  Sales Lagoon, Koondrook Track, Koondrook

WHAT TO BRING:

All requirements for 3 days exploring the Gunbower Island – food, water, accommodation and equipment. 

All participants must wear shoes whilst paddling, comfortable clothing with due regard for the forecast weather. Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, light spray jacket that can go over your life jacket are recommended. BYO snacks/lunch for each day and carry at least 600ml of drinking water. A small basic first aid kit is essential.

Please note that there is an increased incidence of mosquito born disease along the Murray River.  Please take all precautions to avoid being bitten.

CLUB BOATS:

Cost for use of club boat if required and all equipment is $25.00. Please phone 0400744920 to discuss equipment requirements, reserve a boat and transport.   Payment for use of boat is via EFT to the club account on the day of the activity, use Kayak Hire and your surname as the reference.
