South Gippsland

Our Tuesday escapade this week was a 10km walk on a beautiful, still, and sun filled morning.

We gathered together (all 26 of us) at the Koonwarra car park., before heading off on the Rail Trail towards Meeniyan. Along this stretch we managed to spot 2 koala's and a wallaby - a real treat for the not so long ago city slickers. After a couple of kms we then veered off onto some bushland tracks with some good uphill descents - 00ps l mean ascents! We walked through beautiful countryside overlooking rolling green hills, and past a deer farm which also included lush gardens, ponds, ducks, an emu and yet another koala.

After our halfway snack and drink stop amongst the trees we set off again. Along the way we were very lucky to be invited onto the property of a local farmer (friend of 1 of the group) to admire the spectacular view from his veranda and also meet his 2 adorable Jack Russell Terriers.

We then wound our way through more bush trails, quiet back roads and the rail trail back to Koonwarra. The morning was ended at the Koonwarra cafe 'The Ethical Food Store' where we sat in the sun-filled garden indulging in lunch/cakes, coffee and conversation.

A big thankyou to our leader Robyn Scott with her able deputy in husband Dale. Also to Blues fan Bev acting as tail walker to ensure all 26 of us made it back to our cars.

Every once in a while, the ducks line up, they certainly lined up today ensuring we had a good day.
