On the weekend of the 24-26 March 2023, SGWAAC hosted the combined Gippsland Club Event. Many walks and a few bike rides were conducted on the weekend, and hikers from all of Gippsland embraced what our area has to offer.  One of the walks was along the gorgeous George Bass Trail - from Punchbowl Road to Kilcunda - return on Saturday and one way on Sunday (some did the return walk).

On Sunday, 12 walkers enjoyed an 11km walk in overcast but still and warm conditions – ideal for walking!  We were led by Val McDonald who was able to tell us the history of the plant and of the former farm it was built on.

It was 'Combined Clubs' weekend and a small group led by Les Cruikshank set off from the Waratah Bay playground where we parked our cars. But before we set off two of us were distracted by a beautiful mother and baby koala in a small eucalypt just above our heads.
