A passing comment few days prior to our paddle - is there any water?? The ramifications of drought on Lake Narracan were all too clear with a long muddy walk to the water (if you dared) at our usual launching bay and the concrete boat ramp meters out of the water. But no water led to interesting discoveries - the path of the Latobe River dammed to create the lake, how the fence was put in above the hovercraft club that runs for many meters into the lake (probably during a previous drought); new sights - the bottom of the lake being shaped by water rushing through from the delta causing riverlets and mini waterfalls and the trepidations of getting stuck in thick, gooey bottomless mud.

Thankyou to Ann for the following trip report -
First day of winter, finding our way through the fog, meeting team leader Pat Williams at Lake Narracan, looking for a place to launch thru the heavy fog. Ros and Pat made the right decision to launch at the long jetty, after Don, Richard, Bill and Avenel joined us we all launched and on our way the fog slowly lifted. Challenge was finding the deeper water, but all good, we managed to get to the hovercraft entrance for a well-deserved morning tea, then on to Halls Bay for lunch in the sunshine. Back to Narracan jetty, great day had by all.
