Maree was held up helping at an accident on the freeway, so our start time was delayed a little which meant the fog had lifted from the lake and we paddled in beautiful sunshine.
Fishermen were out today, three young lads providing entertainment as we watched them haul in a large carp. The next gentleman was quite concerned we would tangle with his many lines strewn across the river. The last couple of fishermen were happy to wave us on our way.
Shallow water and a huge tree spelled the end of our journey up the Latrobe. Not to be beaten we cruised up the Moe River (drain).
Once again, our endeavors were impeded by fallen trees. Our last adventure was the Tanjil River and of course it has many fallen trees at theconfluence of the Latrobe River. Time to stretch our legs so we scouted this river from the embankment. A beautiful waterway but once again not suitable for us due to multiple fallen logs.
Pelicans, sea eagles, whistling kites and swans were hanging around as we passed through the delta area before crossing the lake in a gentle head wind. A neat little 13 kms in total.
Thanks, Maree, for coming with me. Glad you took a day off from fencing. Pat
