The Bald Hills walk is the traditional final Tuesday walk for the year and is celebrated with all participants bringing a "plate" or a contribution to a yummy lunch at Sue and Lindsay Marriot's home.
The first part of the walk saw us trek off to the nearby Bald Hills Wetlands, which features a bird hide, a lake and unique flora and fauna. The second part saw us trek up the hill through the farm to one of the many wind turbines that make up the Bald Hills wind farm. The wind turbines stretches along the coast towards Walkerville. There are 52 turbines, each generating 2.05 MW for a total of 106.5 MW. contributing 380 GWh each year to the states energy needs. Sheep and Beef cattle happily graze amongst the turbines. The turbine that we walked up to sat on a big hill and afforded panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
Returning to the house we enjoyed a sumptuous lunch with a great variety of dishes made by our talented members and lots of delicious desserts. Not to mention a vibrant and social get together. A merry time was had by all with many thanks to our hosts Sue and Lindsay Marriott.
