On Monday, 28th March, 12 people travelled to Wodonga Big 4 Caravan Park. After settling in a small ride was done to get our bearings for the next day.

We were to meet some members of the Wodonga - Albury Pedal Power group the following morning. Tuesday morning, 9 riders met at Belvoir Park and were joined by 4 of the local riders who guided us through West Wodonga wetlands, Gateway island and other trails. Beautiful pathways dotted with sculptures, large trees and at times along the magnificent Murray, we covered approximately 29 km.

Wednesday morning and we were joined by another 2 local riders who guided us to Thurgoona in NSW. Our cycle was on bike paths and across the large VIC/NSW railway bridge, which was a challenge for some! After coffee at Thurgoona, we went further along to the Old Woolshed. The original woolshed has now been converted into a pub, but still maintains its original structure and artefacts from shearing days. Leaving the pub we rode back to Albury to lunch in a cafe adjacent to a large cycle store where some of us admired the latest electric bikes. 43 km was covered.

Our last day and we drove to Huon boat park and after unloading rode along the trail beside the Hume Weir to Tallangatta. The trail crossed the weir at the Sandy Creek Bridge, a long low bridge with spectacular views. On return from Tallangatta we said goodbye to our 4 new friends and drove to Ebden where we went for a short ride to the Hume Weir and spillway. The weir was over 90% capacity and the overflow spectacular.

Friday morning, up early, some leaving for home and others off to Myrtleford for a few more days cycling. A big thank you to our friends of Wodonga - Albury Pedal Power and thank you to Kerry for providing another “adventure before dementia”.
