Over this weekend, Roz Spratt, Pat Williams, Ilse Arndt, Patsy and John Scales attended the Federation Walks weekend. Roz and Pat were there in the capacity of walk leaders and led up to 30 walkers to Bryces Gorge. Ilse participated in a couple of walks and John and Patsy made it up The Crinoline and participated in the overnighter to the Woonangatta Valley, supported by the Macalister 4WD Club.
Trip Report from Pat Williams
Over the weekend Roz and I had the privilege of talking a total of 30 walkers to Bryces Gorge.
It was a treat to have one happy Parks Ranger accompany us on our Saturday walk, providing a unique opportunity for participants to access his extensive knowledge of the area.
Sunday provided more of the same, except we had to share the track with horses on a trail ride.
Out on the plains after visiting the waterfalls and Gorge.
Approaching Guys Hut, with many walkers expressing a desired to return to explore this area further.
I think we succeeded in wetting their appetite.

Trip Report from Patsy
John and I enjoyed a fabulous weekend away at the Federation Weekend in Licola. It was fabulous catching up with old and new hiking friends and explore the Southern Alpine region. We walked the Crinoline on Saturday. This was a hard walk and had a few challenges - I do love a challenge and thoroughly enjoyed the day - 800 metres up and 800 metres down - 12 kms. A bit of scrambling was involved and I can feel it in the muscles. The miles and miles of views were to die for. This walk was guided by Michael and Kerry from the Strzelecki Bushwalking Club.
Our Sunday walk was an overnighter to the Woonangatta Valley, led by Michael and Briony from the Strzelecki Bushwalking Club. The walk commenced at the Bryces Gorge carpark, via Guys hut to the escarpment and down the mountain to the Dry River. Near the campsite we were picked up by the Macalister 4WD club. We walked 17.4 kms. This overnighter was swish as our gear was transported by the Macalister 4WD club to the campsite in the Valley. It is a beautiful site next to the Dry River. (This is also the site where Carol Clay and Russell Hill went missing ). The 4WD club also provided our dinner, breakfast and lunch and transported us back to Bryces Gorge via the Zeka and Howitt Tracks in their vehicles. A highlight. We visited Howitt's Hut on the way. Cannot wait to hike up there next summer! All in all this event was superbly organised and a lot of fun. We got so much more than we expected. Well done to all the Gippsland Clubs and their organising committee for a great event!
