It was a sunny, however, quite cold Wednesday morning. Ten riders met at Boolarra to ride to Yinnar, along the Midland Highway, where we picked up another five riders. We rode along backroads to Churchill where Kerry led us on a circuit around Lake Highland. Display boards outlined the history of the area. The park around the lake is great place for walking, running fishing,or, just sitting and watching the activities.
Thereafter, we rode to a cafe in Churchill for morning tea and a chat.
We cycled out of town and towards the derelict Hazelwood Power Station. It was a sad sight, the chimneys have gone and a large work gang are still working on the demolition of other structures. We continued around the pondage, stopping at the Anzac Lookout. Then back to our vehicles at either Yinnar or Boolarra.
It was a great breakout ride after the latest lockdown. Good weather and great company. A big thank you to Kerry for her thorough research and planning of our journey.
The distance was an easy 50/30 km ride.
