We all met at Mirboo North carpark to carpool to Mt Baw Baw, stopping at Erica for a rest break. We were lucky that a coffee van had set up, so several people were able to get their coffee fix prior to driving up the mountain.

The last 29 km of the journey was on dirt road which is well maintain due to logging in the area. Fortunately we only passed one logging truck. We had a cold and windy welcome, with some ground snow. Fortunately the trail was sheltered from the wind.

We walked via the La Trobe and Summit trail to Mt Baw Baw summit. The track was surrounded by a dense snow gum forest of richly coloured trees with amazing orange and pale green trunks. The sky was clear of clouds, we had beautiful views at Mueller's lookout. We then walked north along the Village trail stopping for morning tea at Bloomfield picnic area.

After morning tea we completed the loop around Ant Hill lookout and then continued back to Five-Ways junction. Due to risk of rain we shortened the walk taking the Village trail directly back to village central for lunch/afternoon tea in the café.

We car pooled back to Mirboo North, arriving back at approx 5.00 - 5.30pm. The walk was 8kms, medium difficulty and took three hours.
