If you had not noticed the shops are filling with Christmas Cheer, it won't be long and the festive "silly"  season will be here.

Did you know there are only 31 days until Christmas as at 24th November! and there are only 19 days until SGWAAC Christmas in December.

As I write this Blog,  to remind our members of the Club Christmas Function on the 13th of December, I reflect on how Christmas has changed for me over the years.  As a child the Christmas Tree was never put up until Christmas Eve - formally decorated with glass baubles, tinsel and lights; it stayed up for the 12 days of Christmas. Christmas Day spent with the immediate family only - a regimented affair of church, opening presents and formal traditional Christmas lunch - stuffed turkey, roast vegetables, Christmas pudding and not much cheer.

Nowadays the tree can go up in our house any day after 1st of December, an organised cacophany of  Australiana animals and birds poking their heads out from amongst the branches, glass baubles and trinkets, tinsel,  twinkling lights and glitter  - heralding a time of relaxation, time spent with family and friends, sharing stories of events and achievements over the past year and plans for the future, indulging in favorite foods - Sushi, seafood, yummy deserts a little turkey or ham, a G&T or two and playing Canasta (mum is not allowed to win!!).  When work beckons, the tree and its decorations are packed away once more, but Christmas manages to linger on for many months,  glitter from the tree seems to get into every nook and cranny, reminding me of this special time of the year spent with my family and friends.

Come and join us and celebrate Christmas @ SGWAAC on Saturday 13th December at the Dumbalk Memorial Park with a relaxing afternoon reminiscing on the past year of  club events and activities - cycling, kayaking, walking and social activities, catch up with people or perhaps share  ideas for future activities.

For more information and to register for the event please go to the Club Website.

Hope to see you there.
