We are aware that as we ease out of restrictions there is an increased likelihood that the number of COVID exposures and cases will climb. As a club, we need to be cognisant of this potential impact, especially given the demographics of our members.

After careful consideration, taking into account the guidance of the State Government and Health Department, and the experiences of many other clubs and organisations, the Committee believes that our over-riding consideration must be the health and wellbeing of all our members.

While our activities have and will continue to be managed by reference to Department of Health guidelines for coronavirus (COVID-19) including the need for physical distancing, personal protective equipment and good hygiene, ultimately we must err on the side of caution and so until further notice, the following additional protocol shall apply to all SGWAAC sanctioned activities:

  • all registrants are to provide proof of their (double) vaccination (or hold a medical exemption) in order to participate in that activity;
  • the activity leader will provide a QR code to enable registrants to scan in/register for each event, via the Vic Govt Services App
  • Medical exemption details will be privately recorded manually.
  • Should you be fully vaccinated but not have a smartphone, the leader will then need to sight your Australian Immunisation Registry Vaccination Certificate.

See herefor how to provide proof of your COVID-19 vaccinations

The QR code provides a quick and seamless process to record data. Should a positive case be detected at one of our activities, the details of potential close contacts can be extracted from the QR code system by the Department of Health, who will then directly and privately notify others who have scanned in at the time.

Whilst we understand these decisions may impact some members more than others, we must do our best to provide all members with access to safe and healthy events. The Covid situation is constantly evolving and we will continue to monitor and adapt our policies based on available information and Health Department guidance.
