When was the last time you went on an adventure? I mean really go on an Adventure?

Travel with Roz Spratt, by boat, to the beautiful and remote Kent Group National Park for a 5 day sojourn.

Lying midway in eastern Bass Strait the remote Kent Group National Park – is a bewitching cluster of granite islands rimmed by turquoise waters and replete with tame wildlife.

If windswept, picturesque and private are words that appeal, you've found your destination.

Located halfway between the northern end of Flinders Island and Wilsons Promontory the Kent Group National Park comprises three main islands – Erith, Dover and Deal.

Kent Group map

With around 55 kilometres to the nearest landfall in any direction, and no public airstrip, getting there is not easy. Access to this remote park is only possible via boat. And once there, don't expect any facilities. You'll need to be completely self-sufficient.

Your ‘boat’ will be the 50ft Sailing Catamaran, the ‘Nooramunga’ which will depart from Port Albert, February 2022

The Nooramunga is named after the marine park off Corner Inlet by Port Albert and is operated by Wynne and Carol Hobson who have over 60 years’ experience on the Bass Coast waters

Your trip will be of 5 days duration, with a spare day each side to allow for alteration for weather.

It will take a day to sail to the Kent Group National Park where we you will disembark to camp, walk, and explore the island. You will be picked up each day by the Nooramunga and dropped off at the next island.

Subject to weather you will probably spend 2 days on Deal Island and one on each of Dover and Eris Islands.

Nooramunga 2 n

To be clear, you will be camping on the island (not on the boat) and you will need to bring all your own camping gear: tent, sleeping, cooking and food. Fridge & esky storage facilities will be available on the boat

The cost for a 5 day charter of the Nooramunga to The Kent Group of islands is $7000. The boat has a capacity of 12 passengers; therefore the cost will be $600 per person if there are 12 participants.

A tentative booking has been made for the period February 21 – 27 2022 for which a deposit of 30% ($180) will be required by September2021 to confirm the booking
