Overnight Hiking is both a very achievable and most rewarding activity. With the correct gear, some training, a sense of adventure and good company many, many opprotunites will beckon you.

Recent hikes have featured the Great Ocean Raod Walk, the challenging South Coast Track in Tasmaina, Sealers Cove, Mt Baw Baw and Ben Boyd NP

Avon River Camp

30/09/2022 9:00 am - 02/10/2022 6:00 pm
Avon River Camp

Where:  Avon river walking track. Boisedale Avon Wilderness Area

I have not been to the Avon river for some time and look forward to a revisit after many years. This is not an easy walk but there are many highlights.  If you struggle with vertigo this is not for you, and phone reception is very poor.

Day 1

Arrive at the Channels carpark and walk approx. 7 kms to Huggett’s Crossing.

Day 2

A challenging 12 kms walk with packs on and a few ups and a few downs. We’ll be passing the Channels heading to Dermody’s camp.

Day 3

Head back to the Channels carpark, which is approx 7 kms.

As we are in the wilderness, fires are permitted.

You will need to carry food for 3 days.
There is also the opportunity to swim as water is plentiful.
This is a challenging walk.  If you’re interested, feel free to call for more details.
I will not be taking more than 8 people, so you know how it works.
