Daylesford is a town in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range of Victoria, Australia. It’s known for its natural mineral springs. The leafy Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens sits atop an extinct volcano. On its grounds, a 19th-century mansion is home to the Convent Gallery. Daylesford Spa Country Railway winds through farmland and forest. Nearby, Wombat State Forest shelters rare wildlife like the spot-tailed quoll.

The area is surrounded by the Hepburn Regional Park which includes Mount Franklin Reserve, Hepburn Mineral Springs Reserve, Sailors Falls and Central Springs Reserve. Each area is naturally unique and is well worth visiting  to explore the walking trails. 

We will be based at the Daylesford Holiday Park for three nigths from Monday 19 April to Thursday 22 April 2021. Please book your own accomodation and be self supportiative in terms of catering and other needs.

We will meet at the Camp Kitchen on Monday 19 April at 5.00pm to review our walk program over the next few days.

We will do 3 one day walks of up to 15 km, and 6 1/2 hours. The walks will be on dirt tracks, sometimes narrow and rocky, with short ascents and descents and  some cross country navigation:

• Walk 1   Tarilta Ck., 6 chimneys and a ruin (done last year on Graeme Talmage's walk)
• Walk 2   South from Vaughan Springs linking a number of ruins, shafts, tunnels and a "fine example of a cornish flue".
• Walk 3   North from Hepburn following the Goldfields Track.

Gaiters desirable but not essential.
