Cowwarr Weir - Saturday 15th February 

A fun day at Cowwarr Weir from 10am - 2:00pm – social paddling on the Thompson River -  BYO boat for others to try if you are agreeable and food.  An opportunity to catch up with fellow paddlers and share skills and ideas.  Enjoy a picnic lunch on the banks of the river.

How to get there - Do Not Follow Google Maps unless you like dirt roads and ford crossings. 

From Traralgon head to Toongabbie and turn Left at the General Store onto the Toongabbie-Cowwarr Road and then Weir Road which takes you directly to Cowwwarr Weir.  We will meet on the bank near the public toilets.

Cowwarr Weir, 30 minutes from Traralgon is popular for recreation and non-powered water activities and is an ideal day destination.  It is a pretty area, well patronised for swimming, kayaking, fishing and picnicking, with lots of shady spots by the water.  There are pleasant walks around the reserve and it is popular with bird-watchers

The day will include:

• Mentoring in paddle skills as needed
• Self rescue demonstrations (capsize & get back in) – particularly if it is hot!!!
• Opportunities for members to practice self rescue skills – Does your life jacket stay where it is supposed to when you capsize??
